In this special performance, John Costello, lead tenor of Bel Canto Seattle, sings “Una furtiva lagrima” from Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore , in heartfelt dedication to Marianne Weltmann, who passed away in June 2024.

With a longing, and intimate delivery, this tribute honors her memory through one of opera’s most wistful arias. Also proof that you don’t need a suit to bring the piece to life!

Also featured is an excerpt from La bohème, serving as a preview of Bel Canto Seattle’s upcoming recording project with pianist Karin Kajita, cellist Emily Hu, and tenor John Costello. This collaboration weaves lyric tenor, piano, and cello into two arias, and piano with voice in three intimate pieces, shaping a luminous cycle of love and loss.
